In a 2022 interview, she candidly shared that there was a decade in her relationship with Barack Obama when she "couldn't stand" him, attributing this period to the stresses of raising young children while he pursued his political career. She emphasized that marriage isn't always balanced, stating, "There are times I'm 70, he's 30. There are times he's 60, 40."
