Watch Woke NPR CEO Stumble Over Past Tweets as She's Grilled Before Congress, with Ruthless Hosts

In a recent congressional hearing, National Public Radio (NPR) CEO Katherine Maher faced intense scrutiny over past social media posts and NPR's editorial decisions. The session, led by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, aimed to assess potential political bias within publicly funded media outlets.

The hearing was convened by the House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), chaired by Representative Greene. Its primary focus was to evaluate the objectivity of public broadcasters like NPR and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), both of which receive federal funding. Republican lawmakers expressed concerns about perceived left-leaning biases in these organizations' programming and news coverage.

During the proceedings, Representative Brandon Gill confronted Maher with her previous tweets from 2020. One notable tweet suggested that America exploits its Black population while favoring white individuals. When questioned about this, Maher stated she did not recall reading "The Case for Reparations," despite having promoted it online.

Additionally, Representative Tim Burchett highlighted a tweet in which Maher referred to former President Donald Trump as a "deranged racist sociopath." Maher expressed regret over her past remarks, acknowledging that such comments were inappropriate.

The hearing also reignited discussions about the federal funding of public media. Republican lawmakers, including Representative Greene, advocated for defunding NPR and PBS, arguing that taxpayer money should not support organizations perceived as biased. In contrast, Maher and PBS CEO Paula Kerger defended their networks, highlighting the educational and cultural value they provide to local communities.
